Rangers shortstop Corey Seager underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, the club announced Friday. The procedure ends a 2026 season in which Seager dealt with the bone spur for months while also missing time due to low back inflammation and a concussion.

Seager, 32, played through the elbow issue for months. Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said on Sept. 28 that Seager had dealt with the bone spur “for a few months” and that minor surgery might be necessary.

Corey Seager Elbow Surgery: Details

The club announced Seager is expected to make a full recovery in time to begin his normal offseason work. Chris Young said in late September that the procedure might be necessary after Seager battled the bone spur during the regular season.

The Rangers may ease Seager into spring training, but he should be ready for Opening Day.

Seager’s 2026 Season In Context

Seager batted .227 with a .736 OPS and 20 home runs across 102 games in 2026, both the batting average and OPS marking career lows for the five-time All-Star. The down season came amid a string of physical setbacks. He landed on the injured list twice during the year for low back inflammation and also spent time on the seven-day concussion injured list in June.

Those absences, combined with the elbow issue that led to Tuesday’s surgery, limited Seager to his smallest full-season workload in recent memory and contributed to the career-low numbers at the plate.

What’s Next

No specific date has been set for when Seager will resume baseball activities. The Rangers say he is expected to begin his normal offseason program as planned, with spring training representing the next checkpoint for his recovery. The team has not announced when it will provide its next update on his status.
