The current favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Cooper Flagg, rolled his left ankle pretty badly in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Flagg grabbed a rebound and landed on a Georgia Tech player’s foot. He suffered a pretty bad ankle roll that would force him to the locker room with that ankle. Flagg was seen a few minutes later, after working on the injury on the bench, in a wheelchair as he was going to get X-rays in Charlotte.
Cooper Flagg’s performance before the Injury
Cooper Flagg had only two points on 1-7 shooting, four rebounds, two steals, and an amazing block before the ankle roll on his fourth rebound. The Blue Devils struggled before the injury to him in the first half as the team missed their first 13 three-pointers. Cooper Flagg is officially ruled out for the rest of this game against the Yellow Jackets, but he doesn’t have a boot walked on his power and is back on the bench for the Blue Devils.
The ankle roll looked a lot worse than it looks to be for the talented freshman forward. It should be interesting how the next 24 hours are going to look for him as the Blue Devils are probably going to be still playing in this ACC Tournament maybe against North Carolina or Wake Forrest in the Semis.
Conclusion
It’s a great sign that Cooper Flagg is on the bench and cheering on the rest of his teammates for the remainder of this second half against Georgia Tech without a boot and I would think that he would probably be available with an aggressive rehab in the semis or the ACC Final if Duke gets there.
