Pittsburgh Steelers Re-Sign Super Bowl Champion Receiver To 1-Year Deal

Pittsburgh Steelers Scotty Miller

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had an eventful offseason so far. It started with the blockbuster trade that brought Pro Bowl receiver DK Metcalf to the team. Then, the team signed many savvy veterans like Super Bowl champion Darius Slay. The team is bringing back another player who has a championship ring. Reports indicate the team is signing wide receiver Scotty Miller to a one-year deal.

Pittsburgh Steelers Re-Sign Scotty Miller

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports it is a one-year deal for the young receiver. Scotty Miller is most recognizable to fans from his time in Tampa Bay when he won a Super Bowl with Tom Brady under center. After a year in Atlanta, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. In 13 games, he caught five passes for 69 yards. He didn’t see the field much in the Arthur Smith offense, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a valuable signing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are building a powerhouse offense. The combination of George Pickens and Metcalf has the potential to be difficult for opposing defenses to deal with. Pittsburgh has always had a strong running game and needs receivers who are not afraid to do their job. Miller has quality experience and can start if injuries become an issue. Quality depth is a necessity for any NFL team. Injuries happen, but the best teams have people who can step up.

A Fun Season Ahead

I have no clue if the Pittsburgh Steelers will be good in 2025, but they certainly will be fun to watch. Their defense, led by TJ Watt, can create game-breaking plays that swing the tide of a game in an instant. Offensively, Pickens and Metcalf have the potential to take any pass for a touchdown. There is also a way this blows up in their face but is still wildly entertaining.

The team still doesn’t have a quarterback (unless you count the recently signed Mason Rudolph). Having good receivers is awesome, but if there is no one to throw the ball to them, it doesn’t matter. All indications are that they will try to get one of the few veterans available, but if they don’t, keep an eye out for this team in the upcoming NFL Draft. The front office is making moves and trying to get back into the conversation of the AFC’s elite.
