Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow Wins Comeback Player of the Year

Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow was named the Comeback Player of the Year last night at the NFL Honors in New Orleans. Burrow entered the 2024-2025 coming off an injury-plagued 2023-2024 season. He was limited to only 10 games with various wrist injuries. Even when Burrow was under center, he did not play up to his lofty standards.

Burrow responded with undoubtedly the best season of his career. He led the league in pass attempts, completions, passing touchdowns, and passing yards. His great performance led to him finishing fourth in MVP voting and fifth on Offensive Player of the Year ballots. This was Burrow’s second time being named the Comeback Player of the Year. He previously won the award in 2021. Will the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback be able to build on a career year as he looks to lead the team back to the NFL Playoffs?

Cincinnati Bengals Season Summary

Cincinnati is coming off missing the NFL Playoffs for the second consecutive season. The Bengals, even with a tremendous performance from Burrow and the offense, could not overcome a miserable performance from their defense. Burrow was not the only Cincinnati Bengals player with a great regular season as star Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase won the receiving triple crown. He led the league in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns during the regular season.

Burrow led a Bengals offense which was ninth in yards per game and sixth in points per game. Cincinnati’s defense was 25th in yards allowed and 26th in points allowed. The terrible season on the defensive side of the ball led to the Cincinnati Bengals making a change at defensive coordinator. They fired Lou Anarumo following the season and replaced him with Notre Dame DC Al Golden.

Final Thoughts

Cincinnati will head into the offseason looking to break a two-year playoff drought. Burrow will also look to build upon the best season of his career. Instead of winning a third Comeback Player of the Year Award, Burrow wants an NFL MVP or a Lombardi Trophy.
