Canucks vs Flames score: how the third period turned
Liam Ohgren tied it at 1:28 of the third, and the goal needed a video review. The NHL’s Situation Room checked whether his shot crossed the line while in the webbing of Devin Cooley’s glove. Video showed the puck did cross, so the goal stood.
Elias Pettersson gave Vancouver the lead at 9:04 with a backhand. Drew O’Connor made it 3-1 at 16:33. Aatu Räty added the fourth at 17:16.
Goalies and special teams
Leevi Merilainen stopped 23 of 24 shots for Vancouver. Cooley saved 22 of 25 for Calgary.
Calgary went 1-for-2 on the power play, and that was its only goal. Vancouver went 0-for-5 with the man advantage but never needed it. The Flames took nine penalties for 37 minutes, compared with five for 21 minutes for the Canucks.
Player of the game: Liam Ohgren
