Brock Lesnar’s Shocking WWE Return Leaves Eric Bischoff Confused

Brock Lesnar during Wrestlemania Night 2 at SoFi Stadium.

After only a few weeks, Brock Lesnar has wowed the wrestling world with his return to WWE after it seemed like he was leaving for good at WrestleMania 42. The comeback has drawn strong criticism and ongoing debate, with wrestling legend Eric Bischoff openly questioning the decision.  Bischoff described Lesnar’s return as “very confusing and very surprising,” especially given how emotional he appeared when Brock walked away at WrestleMania.

Bischoff Questions Lesnar’s Sudden Return

Initially, Bischoff said he was stunned and confused by the comeback, as the emotional moment at WrestleMania was not fake. He said Lesnar didn’t have a reputation for being a showman or an expresser, so it seemed like a real retirement. That is why his return looked like something out of the ordinary and hard to comprehend.

Bischoff also raised doubts about the creative tone of the move, noting that, if it were part of a story, Lesnar should be given more credit for his effort in that regard. That moment was quickly turned upside down, making it even more baffling for him.

“It Feels Reactionary,” Bischoff Says

Bischoff went on to say that WWE typically builds big storylines over time, and in this case, it was rushed and inconsistent. Bischoff said there could be some behind-the-scenes adjustments that happened rapidly since WrestleMania. He surmised that Lesnar could have made an emotional choice in the ring and came to understand there were contractual or creative issues that must be resolved.

He also speculated that financial or contractual changes might have affected the decision on the direction, but said he wasn’t sure and didn’t have any specific details. Whatever the cause, the scenario was unusual and not the way WWE plans things. In either case, Bischoff decided, everything was going against how WWE normally does things.

Lesnar’s Return Shocks Fans

Lesnar then burst back onto the scene on “WWE Raw,” where he began to make his presence felt by launching several F5 finishing moves at Oba Femi. The reveal made it clear that, despite the rumors of retirement, Lesnar isn’t all the way out of the game. Paul Heyman, his longtime manager, explained the situation backstage, saying that Lesnar is still officially retired but has agreed to take one more shot at Femi.

Heyman then presented a contract to WWE official Adam Pearce, requiring only Femi’s signature to make the match official. It was later announced that the match would take place during the next premium live event, WWE Clash in Italy.

WrestleMania Exit Leaves Some Questions Unanswered

Femi had a dominant performance in a WrestleMania 42 victory over Lesnar. The defeat seemed to bring a moment of emotion to Lesnar, in the ring with his boots and gloves off, in what seemed to be a goodbye. The retirement is now being reconsidered in hindsight, with fans debating whether it was genuine, premature, or part of a broader storyline change.

WWE now has renewed speculation that the match is a one-off appearance or the beginning of yet another short stint for “The Beast,” as Lesnar is now set for another bout with Femi. At this point, Bischoff’s response is much like that of a lot of fans. Surprise, confusion, and wondering what WWE’s plans are for Brock.
