The Brewers vs Padres score was 3-2 in NLDS Game 1 on Saturday at American Family Field, and Milwaukee needed a late home run to get there. William Contreras hit a go-ahead solo shot in the seventh inning, and the bullpen held on.

The Brewers lead the best-of-five series 1-0. Game 2 is Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Brewers vs Padres score: how Game 1 played out

San Diego scored first. Luis Campusano singled home Xander Bogaerts in the second inning, and Jake Cronenworth grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Ethan Salas. That made it 2-0 against Milwaukee starter Jacob Misiorowski.

Milwaukee answered in the third. Jackson Chourio crushed a two-run homer to left center, a 420-foot drive that scored Garrett Mitchell and tied the game at 2-2.

Contreras broke the tie in the seventh with a 406-foot homer to center. It was the last run of the night.

Bullpen decides it for Milwaukee

Misiorowski struck out six in four innings and allowed two runs. Five relievers covered the rest without giving up a run: Antonio Senzatela, Aaron Ashby, Abner Uribe, DL Hall and Trevor Megill.

Hall got the win, and Megill earned the save.

Robbie Ray started for San Diego and lasted 2.2 innings, allowing two runs. Adrian Morejon took the loss after Contreras homered off him.

Padres out-hit Brewers but fall short

San Diego had nine hits to Milwaukee’s seven. Manny Machado went 2-for-4, but the Padres never scored after the second inning.
