The Blake Monroe debut finally happened on Friday night’s SmackDown at Ball Arena in Denver, and she won it. Monroe beat Giulia in her first SmackDown match, sending Giulia face-first into the ring post before the pin.
The show also filled the last two spots in the Money in the Bank ladder matches, which take place Oct. 10.
Blake Monroe debut ends with a win over Giulia
Monroe was called up to the main roster in April, and her in-ring debut had been delayed since. WWE finally delivered the match, and Monroe came away with the victory, according to WWE.com’s results.
Giulia had been booked in a string of losses this year, so the result gives Monroe an early marker as she settles into the SmackDown roster.
Owens and Stratton punch their tickets
Kevin Owens won the men’s triple-threat qualifier over Cody Rhodes and Johnny Gargano. Randy Orton interfered late to stop Rhodes from winning, and Owens took advantage to get the pin.
In the women’s qualifier, Tiffany Stratton beat Candice LeRae and Tatum Paxley. Stratton finished the match with her moonsault and pinned LeRae.
Elsewhere on the card, Ricky Saints and the War Raiders beat Rey Fenix and his partners in a tag match. Sami Zayn, the undisputed WWE champion, also faced a confrontation involving several Money in the Bank hopefuls.
