The Buffalo Bills ruled out defensive tackle Ed Oliver and wide receiver Joshua Palmer for Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, while wide receiver DJ Moore is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Bills coach Joe Brady announced the decisions on Saturday.

What The Team Said

Oliver did not practice this week because of a knee injury he sustained in Buffalo’s 29-26 loss to New England last weekend, the Houston Chronicle reported. It will mark his second missed game of the season. He also sat out the Bills’ 41-31 win over Detroit in Week 2 with a hip injury.

Palmer’s absence stems from a shoulder injury he suffered when he got twisted up during Friday’s practice, per the Houston Chronicle. NFL.com confirmed both players as ruled out for the Rams game.

Moore’s status is less clear. Brady listed the starting receiver as questionable with a shoulder injury, along with nickel cornerback Dee Alford (ankle) and defensive lineman Landon Jackson (knee), according to the Houston Chronicle. Whether Moore ultimately plays has not been determined.

Who Replaces Them

With Palmer sidelined and Moore’s availability uncertain, Buffalo’s top pass-catching options are Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid. Rookie fourth-round pick Skyler Bell, a healthy scratch through the first four games, is expected to make his NFL debut.

Season Context

Palmer, Buffalo’s fourth receiver, has two touchdowns on three catches for 80 yards. Oliver missed Week 2 with a hip injury and has not practiced this week because of the knee injury.

Moore has started at receiver for Buffalo this season, and his questionable designation puts him in the same category as Alford and Jackson, both of whom carry their own injury questions into Monday.

What’s Next

Palmer’s next opportunity to return comes in Week 6 against the Raiders on Oct. 18, according to CBS Sports. Buffalo will stay in Southern California to practice next week before traveling to Las Vegas for Oct. 18.
