Why The Dallas Stars Have A Chance
The Stars are jam-packed with forwards, such as veterans Jamie Benn and Mikko Rantanen. They are also stacked in their defensive core, such as Thomas Harley and Miro Heiskanen. If the Stars were able to make the Western Conference Finals back in the ’22-’23 hockey season, they could do some damage if they make it to the Stanley Cup Finals and win it all.
Why The Stars Will Come Up Short
Starting goaltender for the Dallas Stars, Jake Oetinger, is 23-22-0 in his playoff career, with a goal against average of 2.46. Second, protect the captain at all costs! If the captain, Jamie Been, is out due to an illness, injury, or whatever the case may be, the chances of winning it all are going to be very slim.
Why The Florida Panthers Have A Chance
The Panthers have a chance due to their outstanding forward group and their bottom-six defensive core. One forward I can think of is Aaron Ekblad. Yes, he’s out for the first two games of round 1, but I believe that Ekblad will have a fire in his heart when he comes back for game three.
Why The Panthers Will Come Up Short
The Panthers don’t have a chance if goaltender Sergei Bobrovski keeps up his post-season GAA stats. Bobrovsky is 45-43-0 with a GAA of 2.85. I honestly think his GAA would be lower if the Panthers didn’t force a game seven against the Edmonton Oilers in the 23-’24 Stanley Cup playoffs. That all being said, that’s why the Florida Panthers don’t have a chance.
Prediction
This prediction is really tough due to both teams having great defense and great goaltending. For the sake of discussion, I’d go with the Dallas Stars because they have superstars in Thomas Harley and Mikko Rantanen.
