Arizona Cardinals-Linebacker Josh Sweat Agree To 4-Year Deal

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals and Linebacker Josh Sweat agreed to a 4-year $76.4 million contract on the first day of NFL Free Agency. Sweat’s deal reportedly includes $41 million guaranteed. Sweat is coming off a solid year with the Philadelphia Eagles. He had 41 total tackles and 8 sacks. He raised his level in the NFL Playoffs and was a critical part of Philadelphia winning Super Bowl LIX.

Sweat had a whopping 2.5 sacks in the game as Philadelphia’s offense harassed quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. Sweat is also familiar with Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Jonathan Gannon from when Gannon was the Eagles DC in 2021 and 2022. Will Sweat produce at a high level in Arizona in 2025 and beyond?

Arizona Cardinals Offseason Outlook

Sweat joins a Cardinals defense that was mediocre in 2024. They were 21st in total defense and 14th against the pass. Arizona has made some strong moves this offseason including re-signing Linebacker Baron Browning and Offensive Tackle Kelvin Beachum.

Arizona is a team on the rise. They have some solid pieces on offense including Quarterback Kyler Murray, Running Back James Conner, and Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Final Thoughts

Arizona showed some improvement last season. They finished 8-9 after going 4-13 in 2023. Gannon has illustrated he could build a solid program. Bringing in Sweat solidifies that.
