Aces Fever Game 3: Wilson’s epic 36 end Indiana’s season
LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Aces sent the Indiana Fever home again, beating them 94-83 in a decisive Game 3 on Thursday to win their first-round series 2-1. A’ja Wilson led the way, and this Aces Fever Game 3 recap breaks down how the defending champions closed it out.
Aces Fever Game 3: Wilson sets the tone
Wilson scored 36 points with 10 rebounds on 11-of-18 shooting, according to the WNBA’s game recap. She also had 38 points and 16 rebounds in Game 1.
Chelsea Gray added 23 points for third-seeded Las Vegas. Jackie Young had 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Fox 5 Vegas reported. Jewell Loyd scored 11 points with Stephanie Talbot out because of a leg injury.
Fever stay close, but not close enough
Sixth-seeded Indiana got 23 points from Kelsey Mitchell, who shot 7-of-23, and 19 points and 10 rebounds from Aliyah Boston. Caitlin Clark finished with 18 points, 11 of them in the first quarter.
The Aces led 67-55 at one point in the second half, and the Fever twice trimmed the deficit to two points in the fourth quarter before Las Vegas held on. Tempers flared along the way. Clark and Las Vegas’ Brianna Turner each drew a technical foul early in the third quarter, and Indiana coach Stephanie White was called for one in the second quarter.
What’s next for Las Vegas
It is the second straight year the Aces have eliminated Indiana. They won an overtime Game 5 in last year’s semifinals. Las Vegas now awaits the winner of the Golden State-Dallas series.
