Golden State built its margin with a 34-point second quarter, outscoring Minnesota 64-48 in the first half. Jonathan Kuminga led the Timberwolves with 20 points in his Minnesota debut, but the Timberwolves could not overcome a first-half deficit that reached 24 points, falling to 3-2.

Takeaways From Warriors’ Win Over Timberwolves

Curry carried the offense from start to finish

Curry made 11 of 27 shots and 6 of 16 three-pointers while shooting 16 for 16 from the free-throw line. He finished with eight rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes with a plus-10 rating.

Yaxel Lendeborg provided a second scoring option

Lendeborg added 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting with nine rebounds in 35 minutes, providing a second scoring option alongside Curry.

Minnesota’s second-half rally fell short

The Timberwolves outscored Golden State 33-29 in the fourth quarter and 33-26 over the final two frames combined, cutting into a deficit that once reached 24 points, the largest lead by either team. Minnesota shot 15 of 45 from three-point range for the game and committed 15 turnovers that Golden State converted into 13 points, not enough to complete the comeback.

Player Of The Game: Stephen Curry

Curry’s final line read 44 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and two turnovers in 32 minutes. It was the highest-scoring output for either team and the primary reason Golden State never trailed by more than two points after the opening minutes.

Warriors Vs Timberwolves By The Numbers

Golden State out-rebounded Minnesota 53-42, including a 13-7 edge on the offensive glass that helped offset a 44% shooting night from the field for both teams. The Warriors shot 30 of 37 from the free-throw line compared to Minnesota’s 19 of 27, a difference of 11 made free throws that proved decisive in a five-point final margin. Minnesota out-assisted Golden State 31-25 and forced seven more fast-break points, 17 to 11, but gave the ball away 15 times, leading to 13 Golden State points off those turnovers. The Warriors committed 17 turnovers of their own, which Minnesota turned into 22 points, the largest discrepancy in the box score.

What It Means
