Thomas Tuchel has agreed to a contract with the Football Association to become the new manager of the England National Team. The ex-Chelsea manager will replace the recently departed Gareth Southgate. Tuchel guided the Blues to the Champions League title in 2021, but he was let go the year after that.
Thomas Tuchel Agrees to Become England Manager
The 51-year-old German manager has been appointed as the new head coach, ending the search that began after Gareth Southgate stepped down in the summer. Tuchel has been without a job since he parted ways with Bayern Munich. FA’s chief executive, Mark Bullingham, and technical director, John McDermott, have been talking with Tuchel since last month. He is set to become the first German-born manager of the England national team.
Lee Carsley had taken over as the interim coach of the team, leading the Three Lions in the Nations League. After last week’s loss to Greece and Sunday’s victory against Finland, Carsley stated clearly that he would not be accepting the job on a permanent basis. Tuchel emerged as the leading candidate after Bullingham and McDermott contacted him last month. The FA is expected to hold a press conference this week to announce him as the new manager.
Conclusion
Having worked at prominent clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich, few managers understand the intense scrutiny and challenges faced by top players in world football better than Tuchel does. The England manager position is one of the most closely watched in sports, but few coaches are more ready for that challenge. Thomas Tuchel is a good signing for England, and fans will be excited to see the German and his team compete for championships.
