Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is day-to-day with an adductor injury, head coach Zac Taylor said, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Higgins got hurt late in Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and is considered questionable for Week 5.
Higgins briefly returned to the game before coming out for good after one play, per Yahoo Sports. He finished with 11 catches for 157 yards on 16 targets in the 2-2 Bengals’ defeat.
Tee Higgins Injury Status Per Head Coach
Taylor said Higgins is dealing with an adductor issue and labeled him day-to-day, Schefter reported for ESPN. Bengals coaches also said fellow receiver Ja’Marr Chase remains in concussion protocol. Both players are officially listed as questionable for Week 5, and the Bengals are expected to provide an updated practice report by Wednesday at the latest, according to CBS Sports.
Who Replaces Him
If Higgins can’t go, the Bengals would lean further on their deeper offensive weapons. Dohnte Meyers caught seven passes for 82 yards on nine targets against Jacksonville and has carved out a role in the base offense. With Andrei Iosivas already on injured reserve, Cincinnati’s receiver depth would be stretched thin if both Higgins and Chase sit out.
Season Context
Higgins has been Cincinnati’s most reliable target through four weeks. His 157-yard outing against the Jaguars came after he stepped into a larger role once Chase exited with his own injury. Higgins is unlikely to repeat that workload but should still see plenty of targets whenever he returns.
What’s Next
The Bengals host the 0-4 Miami Dolphins in Week 5, and Cincinnati’s coaching staff is expected to update Higgins’ and Chase’s statuses as soon as Wednesday. Cincinnati then has a bye in Week 6, which could factor into how cautious the team is with both receivers if either is unable to go against Miami.
