The San Antonio Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers 125-103 on Saturday at Moda Center, riding a 42-point second quarter and 29 points from Victor Wembanyama to their eighth straight win. The result pushed San Antonio to 8-2 on the season, while Portland fell to 6-3.

San Antonio never trailed. The Spurs built a 22-20 edge after one quarter, then blitzed the Trail Blazers for 42 points in the second to take a commanding lead into halftime. Devin Vassell added 15 points and Dylan Harper scored 13 as five Spurs reached double figures.

Deni Avdija led Portland with 15 points; Scoot Henderson added 13. No Trail Blazer scored more as the Spurs’ depth wore down the home team.

Key Moments: How San Antonio Pulled Away

Wembanyama set the tone early, hitting a 25-foot three just 14 seconds into the game before adding another from 27 feet and a two-foot shot to help the Spurs jump to an 11-3 lead. Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell chipped in buckets during that opening run, and San Antonio carried a two-point edge into the second quarter.

The second period decided the game. San Antonio outscored Portland 42-29 in the frame, getting three-pointers from Carter Bryant, Julian Champagnie and Vassell to stretch the margin into double digits. The Spurs shot 17-of-44 from three-point range for the night and finished the third quarter up big enough that their largest lead reached 35 points. Portland never led at any point, and the box score listed zero lead changes.
