Seth Jarvis’s season debut status is in focus for the Carolina Hurricanes, with the forward was a full practice participant Wednesday and could make his season debut Thursday against the Oilers after shoulder surgery in June. Jarvis has not played this season while recovering from the procedure on his right shoulder.
What The Team And Source Said
“It’s getting closer,” Brind’Amour said. “We’re trying to get him every (rep), like power-play time and stuff that he hasn’t really been doing, in hopes that we get told he’s good to go.”Amour said Jarvis was a full participant Wednesday. The team is working him into power-play reps and other situational work as final steps before clearing him for game action.
Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour addressed Jarvis’s progress, saying the team has been working him into situational reps as part of the final steps before a possible return.
“It’s getting closer,” Brind’Amour said. “We’re trying to get him every (rep), like power-play time and stuff that he hasn’t really been doing, in hopes that we get told he’s good to go.”
Brind’Amour’s comment points to power-play repetitions as one of the remaining boxes to check before Jarvis is cleared to return to game action.
Lineup Picture In Carolina
Jarvis skated Wednesday on a line with Jordan Martinook and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, showing the potential placement if he plays Thursday.
Season And Playoff Context
Jarvis led the Hurricanes with 32 goals last season and had 11 points on four goals and seven assists in 19 playoff games as Carolina won its first championship since 2006. His offensive production and role on the power play underscore his value as the team looks to maintain its form this season.
What’s Next
The Hurricanes play the Oilers at 9 p.m. ET Thursday. Jarvis’s status for the game is expected to be confirmed closer to puck drop.
