The Anaheim Ducks recalled center Roger McQueen from the San Diego Gulls on Tuesday, according to NHL.com. The move came as Anaheim placed center Ryan Poehling on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
McQueen, 20, had opened his first professional season on a strong note, posting three goals and a plus-2 rating in three games with San Diego. His recall gives the Ducks an extra body up front while Poehling works through his injury.
The Terms Of The Ryan Poehling Roster Move
Poehling’s placement on injured reserve opens a roster spot that Anaheim filled by calling up McQueen. The transaction is official, as confirmed by the team through NHL.com. No timeline for Poehling’s return has been announced.
What The Roger McQueen Recall Means For Anaheim
McQueen signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ducks on April 18, 2026, and his recall marks a step toward his NHL debut. Anaheim has leaned on young talent already this season. His size and recent scoring form add depth to Anaheim’s center rotation.
McQueen’s Background And Season Numbers
A 6-5, 206-pound center from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, McQueen has totaled six points on four goals and two assists in 11 career AHL games with San Diego. Before turning pro, he starred at Providence College, where he posted 27 points on 11 goals and 16 assists with a plus-5 rating and 45 penalty minutes in 36 games during the 2025-26 season. That performance earned him Hockey East Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the conference’s All-Rookie Team.
What’s Next For The Ducks
Anaheim has not announced when McQueen will make his NHL debut or when Poehling is expected to return from injured reserve. McQueen is available for Anaheim’s upcoming contests.
