Recap: Florida Panthers vs Minnesota Wild

The Florida Panthers struggled tonight against the Minnesota WIld.

The Florida Panthers took on the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night and it was an ugly game, to say the least. The Minnesota Wild dominated the game against the Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. The Minnesota Wild came into Tuesday night’s game as one of the hottest teams in the NHL. They have not trailed in any of the five games played and have gotten points in most of their games played. Minnesota Wild Goaltender Filip Gustavsson has been one of the top goaltenders in the NHL so far in this early season.

He is 3-0-1 with a save percentage of .950. He is a big goaltender who is hard to beat and the Panthers could not seem to figure him out. On the bright side, Florida Panthers Forward Matthew Tkachuk returned to the lineup after dealing with an undisclosed illness for the past five games. Tkachuk only had one assist in the game which was scored on the Panthers only goal in the game. The Panthers lost 5-1 against the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night. The Florida Panthers and Head Coach Paul Maurice will look to regroup before heading out on the road for five games.

Florida Panthers Lose At Home Against Minnesota Wild

It was a poor performance by the Panthers on home ice Tuesday night. The Panthers seemed like they could not get much going on offense in this game. The Wild dominated the Panthers, they scored two goals in the first period and three in the second period. Florida Panthers Sam Bennett got the Panthers on the scoreboard and scored in the second period.

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky faced 16 shots and saved 11 of those shots before ending up getting pulled after the second period allowing five goals in two periods. Goalie Spencer Knight took over in the third period. Not the greatest of starts for Bobrovsky this season as it was one of his worst performances.

The Panthers had 25 shots on goal, 46 hits, and two penalties in the game. They did not have a powerplay in this game as Minnesota stayed out of the box. The Minnesota Wild had two powerplays in the game and only scored on one of the powerplays. The Wild had 22 shots on goal and 23 hits in the game against the Panthers. Minnesota is now 4-0-2 on the season and the Panthers fell to 4-3-1 on the season.

Final Thoughts

The Florida Panthers will look to put this game behind them and move forward to the next game against the New York Rangers. The Panthers have games against the New York Islanders, and Buffalo Sabres before heading to Finland for the Global Series against the Dallas Stars. The Florida Panthers will also look forward to having their Captain Alexsander Barkov back in the lineup next week. He is set to return for one of the games before heading to his hometown in Finland.
