The Quinnipiac hockey opener turned into a rout Friday night, as No. 7 Quinnipiac beat New Hampshire 10-2 before a sellout crowd at M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Connecticut. The Bobcats scored 10 goals for the first time since 2013, the school said.

Quinnipiac hockey opener: how the goals came

Quinnipiac scored four times in the first period and led 4-0 after 20 minutes. The Bobcats followed with three goals in the second and three more in the third, according to New Hampshire’s game recap.

New Hampshire scored twice in the second period. Freshman Mason Zebeski scored at 13:33, and senior assistant captain Nick Ring scored on the power play at 17:01.

Standout performers for the Bobcats

Ethan Wyttenbach had two goals and an assist, and Chris Pelosi added two goals. Alex Kostov had two assists in his college debut. Parker Alcos and Dylan Edwards each scored their first collegiate goals, Quinnipiac’s recap said.

Goaltender Christian Kirsch earned his first college win with 21 saves on 23 shots. Sixteen Bobcats skaters recorded a point, the most since January 2024. The 10 goals also marked the second-highest total in a season opener in program history, behind a 12-goal game against St. John’s in 1981-82.

New Hampshire used two goalies. Michael Simpson made 16 saves, and Teagan Kendrick stopped nine in relief.
