The Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. The 76ers defeated the Mavericks 121-114 at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. Philadelphia improved to 16-11, while Dallas fell to 11-18.

The 76ers rocked their Hardwood Classic Edition uniforms. The first 2,001 fans in attendance received a limited-edition anniversary collectible pin featuring current 76ers players.

In case you missed it, Anthony Davis earned the Winning Play of the Game in Thursday’s overtime win, 116-114, at the American Airlines Center. Cooper Flagg had 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. Flagg, 18, earned his first career double-double, marking his 11th career 20-point game. That is the most by any 18-year-old, excluding LeBron James (14).

In addition, Dallas recorded 15 blocks in Thursday’s win. The most by any NBA team this season. Dallas’ feat marked just the second time in the last 13 seasons and the eighth time in franchise history that they recorded 15+ rejections in a game.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Dallas Mavericks Starters

Philadelphia’s starting lineup featured Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Andre Drummond, Quentin Grimes, and Dominick Barlow. Philadelphia ruled out Trendon Watford (adductor), Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee), Paul George (knee), and Joel Embiid (knee).

76ers vs. Mavericks Recap

Saturday’s game was a non-conference game, but important, nonetheless. Flagg and Edgecombe faced off as professionals for the first time. Saturday night marked the 76ers’ sixth back-to-back of the season after playing three in their first 10 games.

Before the game, Philadelphia’s X account posted that the two teams were scheduled to play both of their regular-season game meetings over the next 13 days.

The first quarter started with a Mavs achievement. Marshall drove, spun, and dropped a dime in the paint, recording his 3,000th career point. The 76ers’ comeback began with Edgecombe’s scoring explosion for 14 points. Philadelphia took a 38-33 lead to end the first.

The second quarter saw the 76ers’ momentum. Dominick Barlow went up to 14 points. The Mavs kept the game close. Daniel Gafford blocked a shot near the rim. Ryan Nembhard made a basket off a Flagg pass. Philadelphia took a 68-62 lead into halftime.

The third quarter witnessed the Mavs’ fast start. The Mavs went on a 10-0 run before 76ers Head Coach Nick Nurse took a timeout. The 76ers kept the game close. Barlow tied his career-high with 21 points. Dallas took a 97-91 lead through three quarters.

The fourth quarter observed the 76ers’ speedy start. The 76ers went on a 17-7 run to take a four-point lead. Jared McCain and Adem Bona made back-to-back three-pointers to change the game’s tempo. Philadelphia went on to win 121-114 in regulation.

Final Thoughts

Dallas will hit the road to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Central. Dallas’ recent rise can lead to an easy win over a lowly New Orleans squad.

Philadelphia will conclude its homestand against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. Philadelphia’s ups and downs may not be exposed by a struggling Nets team.
