Philadelphia 76ers Shooting Guard Quentin Grimes has put together a historic five-game stretch. Over his last five games, Grimes has amassed 163 points, 27 rebounds, 21 made threes, 12 steals, and 5 blocks. He joined future Hall of Famers James Harden and James Harden as the only other players in league history to put up those numbers over a five-game span. Philadelphia is 2-3 over that stretch.
Grimes’ hot streak began against the Utah Jazz and continued against the Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets. He is having the best month of his career averaging a whopping 28.6 points per game in March. Grimes has found his footing with the Philadelphia 76ers after being traded by the Dallas Mavericks following the teardown of its roster last month. Will Grimes continue making history?
Philadelphia 76ers Season Summary
It has been a wildly disappointing season for a 76ers team that entered the season with championship aspirations. The issue for the team has been health. Center Joel Embiid has been limited to 19 games. Small Forward Paul George, a marquee offseason signing, has played in 41 games. Promising rookie Guard Jared McCain played in 23 games this year before undergoing season-ending knee surgery.
The injury woes have sent the Philadelphia 76ers tumbling down the Eastern Conference standings. They are the No. 12 seed and six games out of the NBA Play-In Tournament. Philadelphia’s offense has been one of the league’s worst. They are 25th in points scored, 22nd in field goal percentage, and 24th in three-point percentage. Philadelphia’s defense has also struggled. They are 17th in points allowed, 30th in opposing field goal percentage, and 27th in opposing three-point percentage.
Final Thoughts
Grimes has been given a bigger opportunity to play and has taken advantage of it. He will look to keep his historic run going this evening on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder. In what has been a terrible season for the Philadelphia 76ers, Grimes has been one of the few bright spots.
