Ohio State 2027 Football Recruiting is Loaded Even if David Gabriel Geoges Chooses Tennessee

Brutus Buckeye interacts with fans as the team arrives for the Ohio State football spring game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on April 18, 2026.

Ohio State is set to continue its winning ways well beyond the 2026 football season. The Buckeyes have a loaded 18-man recruiting call for 2027 that includes 3 5-stars with outstanding commitment from Karlos May (a 4-star defensive tackle, likely to commit on Saturday) and David Gabriel Georges (a 5-star running back who is choosing between Ohio State and Tennessee).

The lifeblood of a college sports team is whether it can bring in talent. Things look good in Columbus, as the Buckeyes continue to recruit a loaded football recruiting class after loaded class. One interesting fact from the 2027 recruiting cycle is whether defensive ine coach Larry Johnson is too old. He is not judging by the impressive haul he gathered. Do you think Ohio State will be able to attract high-end football talent?

DJ Jacobs is the star of this class. He plays defensive end, so if one takes him into account with fellow 5-star Marcus Fakatou and defensive end Wyatt Smith (along with the probable commitment of defensive tackle Karlos May), this might be the best recuiting class Ohio State has ever signed.

Wide Receiver remains a position of strength for Ohio State with a 5-star recuit in Jamier Brown. He is joined in this class by Jordan Donahoo, however, several great transfers in make this a position of strength for the Buckeyes. Offensive line is very strong in this class. Kellen Wymer and Caden Moss are high 4-stars and they are joined by massive Brody McNeil, Jimmy Kalis, Mason Wilt, and Davis Seaman.

Linebacker is a little thin for Ohio State with just Prince Goldsby and Quinton Cypher. However, it is worth noting the Buckeyes only play two linebackers. The defensive backfield looks pretty good. Eli Johnson is the highest rated recruit. He is joined by Angelo Smith, the brother of Jeremiah Smith. There are a couple of cornerbacks in this class in Delontay Malone and Jaden Carey.

Quarterback Brady Edmunds is interesting. He might flip to UCLA after being committmed to the Buckeyes. He is also interesting because he was more highly ranked, but has consistenly fallen in the rankings. If he flips, the Buckeyes could go for another quarterback.

Conclusion

This class is great, but it could be getting better. Karlos May, a hulking defensive tackle is likely to commit to Ohio State on Saturday. He would add to an impressuve defensive line haul for the Buckeyes. The second potential commitment for Ohio State is even more important. Running Back David Gabriel Georges, a 5-star, is set to choose between the Buckeyes and the Tenessee Volunteers. His recuitment is big busineess and it is thought that Tennessee has offered him more money and the Buckeyes off him a chance to win.
