Matthew Stafford Urges LA Rams to ‘Trust the Process’ After Disappointing Start

The Los Angeles Rams start rocky this season. As of the second round, the team sits at 0-2, a place the team hadn’t been in since 2011. The Los Angeles Rams team suffered a crushing 41-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and disappointment seems to echo throughout the camping area as well as across the fans’ sight. However, within the gloom, quarterback Matthew Stafford is calling for patience and commitment to the process.

A Humbling Loss

Coming into the season, the Rams were pretty upbeat, thanks to having qualified for the playoffs in 2023. They were hoping to build on last season’s performances, primarily following a tough playoff loss to the Detroit Lions. The Cardinals, however, came to their stadium and took the ball from them. At half time, the scoreboard had them with 24-3, and things needed a shift.

This defeat becomes more understandable since the Los Angeles Rams failed to pick up much offense as they could only tot up 53 rushing yards, which is way short of what they need for a legitimate fight. Stafford was hammered continuously and even sacked five times during the course of play. This definitely did not meet the expectations at the beginning of the season.

On the other side of the ball, the Rams’ defense was their own worst enemy with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray found receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. often, and the rookie wideout put in a game to remember as he caught four balls for 130 yards and two touchdowns. It’s pretty disappointing on the defense of the Rams, holding Murray and the Cardinals’ running game, which tallied up well over 200 yards, to a very easy time of things.

Still, despite the poor first half, Matthew Stafford is optimistic.  His words really emphasize the process rather than looking at the immediate results. He knows how to lead a comeback; indeed, he holds the record for most fourth-quarter comebacks in a season in the NFL.

Per Matthew Stafford, the mantra is “trust the process.” That, to him, actually portrays the notion that consistent hard work and perseverance can regain it. During last season, the Rams came into the season 3-6 but finished the last seven games, winning six of them. That gives him confident vibes that the team can rebound in all those challenges they’re facing now.

It is not going to be easy for the Los Angeles Rams moving forward, but the message of trust and perseverance from Matthew Stafford should give the team something to hang onto. It all comes down to changing how this team thinks, doing the little things, taking it one game at a time, and being a little bit better each day. There’s nothing easy about that, but if anyone can lead this team to better days, it is certainly Matthew Stafford.
