Lightning vs Flyers: Tampa Bay Delivers 4-1 Win

Lightning vs Flyers ends 4-1 as Ilya Mikheyev and Pontus Holmberg each score and assist. Nikita Kucherov adds two assists in Tampa Bay’s win.

Ilya Mikheyev and Pontus Holmberg each had a goal and an assist in the Lightning vs Flyers matchup Monday, helping Tampa Bay beat Philadelphia 4-1 at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Nikita Kucherov added two assists, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 13 saves. Tampa Bay outshot Philadelphia 36-14 and won its second straight game to improve to 2-1-0. The Flyers remained winless at 0-2-2.

Lightning vs Flyers: Tampa Bay builds its lead

Brayden Point put Tampa Bay ahead late in the first period by redirecting John Carlson’s shot. Holmberg scored 17 seconds into the second period, but Tyson Foerster answered for Philadelphia at 7:22 to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Lightning kept that slim advantage until Mikheyev scored on a wraparound with three minutes left. Brandon Hagel’s empty-net goal at 19:53 completed the scoring.

Flyers face another heavy workload

Dan Vladar stopped 32 of 35 shots for Philadelphia; Tampa Bay’s final shot went into the empty net. The Flyers’ latest defeat followed losses to the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils.
