Knicks sign center Tony Bradley to Exhibit 9 training camp deal
The New York Knicks signed center Tony Bradley to an Exhibit 9 contract Wednesday. The non-guaranteed deal gives Bradley a training camp look without occupying a standard roster spot.
Bradley, 28, spent last season split between the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks after signing with Atlanta in April. He appeared in 41 games, making four starts, and averaged 4.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per game, according to NBA.com.
The terms
An Exhibit 9 contract is a non-guaranteed training camp deal that allows Bradley to practice and play in preseason games without counting against the Knicks’ roster. It carries injury protection limited to a single game, making it a low-risk evaluation tool for a veteran big man before final roster cuts.
What it means for the Knicks
New York gets a veteran presence in the frontcourt during training camp without a guaranteed contract. Bradley has played eight NBA seasons and shoots 61.8% for his career, giving the Knicks a proven practice body. His path to a regular-season roster spot remains unlikely given the deal structure.
Player background
The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bradley 28th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft out of North Carolina, where he averaged 7.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in 38 games during his lone college season. He has since played for the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Indiana and Atlanta. Across 234 career games with 22 starts, Bradley averages 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in 10.9 minutes, per NBA.com.
What’s next
Bradley will work out with the Knicks through training camp and the preseason before the team makes a final roster decision ahead of the regular season.
