Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, according to NHL.com, and will not play Friday when the Jets host the Anaheim Ducks at Canada Life Centre. The Josh Morrissey injury status leaves Winnipeg without one of its top blue-liners for at least one game, with no word yet on when he might return.
What The Team Said About The Josh Morrissey Injury
Jets coach Scott Arniel addressed Morrissey’s condition before Friday’s game, saying the defenseman is trending in the right direction but will be given the full break to make sure he is ready.
“He felt a little better today, but we’ve got three days (off) coming here too, so just making sure,” Arniel said.
Arniel’s comment points to a cautious approach rather than a long-term concern. The three days off between Friday’s game and Tuesday’s matchup against Minnesota give the coaching staff a built-in buffer to evaluate Morrissey without rushing him back.
What’s Next
The Jets host the Ducks on Friday, then get three days off before hosting the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
