The JJ Peterka overtime goal gave the Boston Bruins a 4-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday at Canada Life Centre. Peterka scored on a breakaway at 3:21 of overtime, beating Stuart Skinner through the five-hole on a pass from David Pastrnak.
How the JJ Peterka overtime goal came together
Boston trailed 3-2 late when Elias Lindholm tipped in a Pastrnak shot with less than two minutes left and goalie Jeremy Swayman pulled for the extra attacker. That forced overtime, according to NHL.com’s game recap.
Dylan DeMelo gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead in the first period. Hampus Lindholm tied it with a point shot, and rookie James Hagens scored his first NHL goal to put Boston ahead 2-1.
Kyle Connor tied the game on the power play in the second period, and Mario Ferraro scored late in the period to make it 3-2 Jets.
Standout performers
Pastrnak and Nikita Zadorov each had two assists for Boston. Swayman made 30 saves, and Skinner stopped 26 shots in his Winnipeg debut. It was Peterka’s second game-winning goal in as many games for Boston, The Boston Globe reported.
