Jeremiah Smith Impressive As OSU Defeats MSU 38-7

Jeremiah Smith dazzled in Saturday's game Egbuka

The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Michigan State Spartans 38-7 on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The win improved the Buckeyes to 4-0 on the young season. Nevertheless, that was not the story. The story was Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith and his two one-handed catches. His legend grows even though he is only a freshman who turns nineteen this week.

Game Summary

This game was probably closer than it should have been, but Ohio State did cover the betting spread. The Spartans were game, and their elusive running Quarterback, Aiden Childs, gave the Ohio State defense problems. Childes threw for 167 yards, taking advantage of Ohio State’s vaunted cornerbacks. Ohio State only gave up 47 yards on the ground, but the running threat of Childs was there all game long. Michigan State has several very good players and a very good coach in John Smith. Michigan State will be good next year and very good the year after that.

Scoring Summary

As far as the scoring summary goes, first, Ohio State kicked a field goal to take a 3-0 lead. Then, Gee Scott, the tight end who is having a great year, caught a touchdown pass to give Ohio State a 10-0 lead. Michigan State scored next, shocking the sleeping Buckeyes. Wide Receiver Jaron Glover caught a touchdown to cut the Ohio State lead to 10-7.

Then Jeremiah Smith happened. First, he took an end around to rush for a touchdown. Then he made a very nice catch for a touchdown and Ohio State was leading 24-7. In the second half, Wide Receiver Emerka Ebuka caught a touchdown pass and Quarterback Will Howard ran for a 6-yard touchdown to give Ohio State its final 38-7 lead.

Jeremiah Smith With Amazing Game

To a certain extent, this game was a bit of a coming-out party for Ohio State freshman Wide Receiver Jeremiah Smith. It is hard to believe he will turn just 19 this week. It seems like he has had a full college career by now. Jeremiah Smith could play in the National Football League now. In this game, Smith had not one, but two, one-handed catches. One of which went for a touchdown. Jeremiah Smith teams with Ebuka and the underrated Carnell Tate to form a deadly starting wide receiving trio for Ohio State. Take into account that Ohio State has a two-headed monster at running back and the Buckeyes have a stable of weapons.

Up Next: Iowa

Ohio State plays the University of Iowa at home this coming Saturday, October 5, 2024. Ohio State is favored to win. The betting line as of Tuesday night is Ohio State by 20 points in the game. Iowa can play very good defense but cannot score. The final score is likely to be about 21-0. Maybe in this game, Jeremiah Smith will progress and make a no-handed catch.
