Utah football placed defensive tackle Jamal Wallace on an indefinite suspension after he was arrested and booked on misdemeanor charges of distributing an intimate image, according to the university and USA Today. Salt Lake County jail dockets show he was arrested and booked on Sunday, Oct. 11, after a woman told Salt Lake City police he raped her and shared videos of the assault on her Snapchat account.
Wallace was released from jail on Oct. 12 after posting a $5,000 pre-trial bond. He had not been arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault charge and had not faced formal sexual assault charges as of Oct. 21, according to USA Today.
What Happened, According To The Police Report
The woman told police she met with Wallace on Oct. 9 to discuss their relationship, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. She alleged that during that encounter, Wallace forced her to engage in various sex acts.
She also alleged that Wallace accessed her Snapchat account without her consent and recorded two sexually explicit videos involving the two of them. Wallace then allegedly sent one of the videos to five people the woman had been messaging on the app.
Wallace allegedly told an officer that he became upset after going into the woman’s Snapchat account and seeing that she had been messaging other men, according to the Tribune’s report. The woman told police she felt confused and disgusting after seeing the videos and underwent a sexual assault examination.
During a police interview, Wallace denied sexually assaulting the woman, according to USA Today.
Utah’s Response

We take these matters seriously. As this is a pending legal matter we have no further comment at this time.”
The program has not issued further public comment beyond that statement, citing the pending legal matter.
