Jake Sanderson returns to the Senators’ lineup Wednesday against Florida after an eight-game absence. The defenseman sustained a lower-body injury during Ottawa’s season opener Oct. 3.
What The Team And Sanderson Said
Sanderson described the sideline stretch as frustrating but said watching his teammates helped. “I’m fired up,” he said. “Long few weeks for me, frustrating for sure.
But you know, I think seeing the guys play as good as they have kind of you know makes a little bit better. So, frustrating, like I said, but man, I’m just so excited to play.”
Depth Chart Impact
Sanderson was paired with Artem Zub at Wednesday’s morning skate. His return comes as Thomas Chabot is sidelined for one to two weeks with an upper-body injury sustained in the third period of a 3-1 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday.
Season Context For Sanderson
Sanderson led Ottawa defensemen last season in goals (14), assists (40), points (54) and time on ice per game (24:50).
What’s Next
Sanderson plays Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET against Florida. Chabot is expected to miss the next one to two weeks while recovering.
