The Golden State Warriors prevailed 121-116 last night at home against the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Play-In Tournament. This victory helped Golden State punch their ticket to the main draw of the NBA Playoffs. Point Guard Stephen Curry and Small Forward Jimmy Butler III were the driving forces behind the win.
Curry finished with 37 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 made three-pointers, and 13 free throws. Butler III had 38 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 made triples, and 12 free throws. They became the first duo in NBA history to finish with 75+ points, 25+ free throws made, 15+ rebounds, 10+ assists, 5+ threes made, and 4+ steals in a game. Will Curry and Butler III continue playing well as the Golden State Warriors prepare for what they hope is a deep postseason run?
Golden State Warriors Season Summary
Golden State looked like a lifeless team over the first few months of the regular season. That all changed when Butler III came to town. He was acquired from the Miami Heat at the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline. Curry and Butler III have been great together. They are 22-5 this year on the floor but struggled down the homestretch of the regular season.
They dropped three of their final five games to fall into the NBA Play-In Tournament. The momentum the team built over the previous nearly came crashing down. That was why their win last night against the Memphis Grizzlies was so important. They will be able to rest after putting forth an offensive performance for the ages.
Final Thoughts
Golden State begins the 1st Round of the NBA Playoffs on the road against the No. 2-seeded Houston Rockets on Sunday night. The Warriors won the season series 3-2. A possible issue for the team is how Curry performed against Houston during the regular season. He only averaged 16.3 points in his last three games against the Rockets. If Curry plays like that during the series, the Golden State Warriors will have a short stay in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
