Florida Panthers Sign Hunter St. Martin To Entry-Level Contract

The Florida Panthers signed Hunter St. Martin.

The Florida Panthers signed Hunter St. Martin to a three-year entry-level contract Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Zito announced Wednesday. “Hunter is a skilled skater who has shown a tremendous amount of maturity and adaptability at a young age,” said Zito. “We are excited for him to take the next step in his career with our organization.”

Hunter St. Martin will be a great addition to the Florida Panthers lineup when he is ready to play in the NHL. Head Coach Paul Maurice and General Manager Zito have great confidence in this young prospect for the Florida Panthers.

Florida Panthers St. Martin Under Contract

Hunter St. Martin is 19 years old and played in the WHL (Western Hockey League) with the Medicine Hat Tigers leading the team with seven goals as an alternate captain. Hunter appeared in 52 career WHL games over four seasons with Medicine Hat (2021-22 to 2024-25), amassing 82 points (39-43-82) and a plus-15 rating. He has appeared in nine career playoff games with Medicine Hat, logging six points (2-4-6).  St. Martin was originally selected by Florida in the sixth round (193rd overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.

St. Martin played in the preseason with the Florida Panthers this season and had a great developmental camp. St. Martin had a goal in an assist in the pair of preseason games he did appear in. The assist was on the game-winning goal in overtime.

When asked about the entry-level contract St. Martin said “It’s something you’ve worked your whole career for. It’s a dream. All the work that has been done and now you sign that contract, you get a little money, a little bit of stability.” He also said “But you still have to work your way up to make pro and play. But it’s a dream come true, and you’ve worked your whole life for it. So, it definitely feels really good to be rewarded a little bit. But now it’s just back to work.”

Final Thoughts

Hunter St. Martin has a bright future with the Florida Panthers. St. Martin might appear in some games this season if he continues on the path he is on and performs well in the Panthers minor league team. Bill Zito has done a great job with finding Panthers that fit the Florida Panthers style of play and that will fit in well with the team. The Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup Champions for a reason with Zito revamping the organization.

The Florida Panthers are on a hot streak being 6-3-1 in the last 10 games and on a three-game winning streak. The Florida Panthers are also on top of the Atlantic Division with 15 points. They head to Finland for back-to-back games in the NHL Global Series against the Dallas Stars. The Panthers are hoping to keep the momentum going now that Captain Alexsander Barkov and Forward Matthew Tkachuk are back in the lineup.
