The White House is expecting to have the Super Bowl LIX Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Monday afternoon. The Eagles lifted the Lombardi Trophy after a 40-22 win over the previous defending two-time champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. This time, the Eagles are visiting the White House after they decided not to visit the White House in 2018 after the Super Bowl LII win over New England. The moment is a great moment. The tradition of the new champion going to the White House has been controversial lately.
The White House Tradition Has Been More Controversial/Political
The White House Visit is normally one of those traditions that is celebratory. Unfortunately, part of it hasn’t been lately because of the modern political landscape. The current president is one of those controversial people who is so polarizing that people are divided. The visit itself is supposed to be a celebration of the achievement, so it will be interesting to see how this visit will go this time around. This moment is going to be interesting in Washington D.C. this year, and what press it will get from Philadelphia this year.
Final Thoughts
The DC visit will continue to be one of those traditions in sports that people will respect because it’s a celebration of the previous season’s accomplishments, The Eagles staff, players, coaches, etc are going to remember this moment for the rest of their lives even though the controversy might be there because of the politics of it all.
So we shall see what the press is going to say about the visit on Monday evening. Total Apex Sports has more NFL Stories like this all over the site, as well as other sports stories from the NBA, MLB, NHL, Soccer, etc.
