Dillon Brooks DUI charge revealed 7 months after arrest

Dillon Brooks DUI case: Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks during an NBA game

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was charged Monday with driving under the influence in Scottsdale, Arizona, stemming from his arrest in March, according to court records cited by ESPN. The Dillon Brooks DUI charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor, and the 30-year-old is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 28.

Brooks has not been convicted of a crime, and the charge remains an allegation.

What happened in March

Scottsdale police stopped Brooks around 1 a.m. on March 6 and arrested him, ESPN reported. At the time, a source close to Brooks told ESPN the arrest was related to marijuana.

The Suns’ response to the Dillon Brooks DUI case

“This charge stems from the incident last March,” Suns senior vice president of communications Stacey Mitch said in a statement to ESPN. “We have addressed the matter with Dillon and have no further comment.”

Brooks’ representatives did not immediately respond to ESPN’s requests for comment.

The Dillon Brooks DUI case is not his only matter in the Scottsdale court system. Brooks also faces a misdemeanor reckless driving and speeding case from January, and the court has set a trial readiness conference in that case for Nov. 9, per ESPN.
