Denver Nuggets Star Nikola Jokic With a Tremendous February

Denver Nuggets

Denver Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic just finished one of the best months of his illustrious career. In February, he averaged 27.3 points per game, 12.3 rebounds per game, 11.6 assists per game, and a 70.3 True Shooting Percentage. It was his third month averaging a triple-double on 70%+ TS. No other player in NBA history has one such month. Jokic capped off February with his seventh triple-double last night on the road against the Detroit Pistons. His performance helped the Denver Nuggets prevail 134-119.

The reigning MVP is putting together another MVP-caliber campaign. He was first on the most recent KIA MVP ladder and already has more triple-doubles(28) than he had in his previous four MVP seasons. Jokic is third in the league in points per game, third in rebounds per game, second in assists, and 10th in field goal percentage. Will he be able to keep up his high level of play as the Denver Nuggets vie for another championship?

Denver Nuggets Season Summary

Denver has been really good this season. They are 39-21 and the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. The Nuggets have been led by a great offense this year. Jokic’s performance has played a huge role in that. Denver is third in points per game, leading the league in field goal percentage, and third in three-point percentage.

Denver’s defense has been far weaker this season. They are 23rd in points allowed, 12th in opposing field goal percentage, and 18th in opposing three-point percentage. A great offense coupled with a middling defense has helped the Denver Nuggets have the fifth-best point differential in the league.

Final Thoughts

Jokic and the Nuggets head to Boston for a marquee matinee against the defending champion Celtics tomorrow. That game will provide a measuring stick for both franchises. The Denver Nuggets then have a few days off before hosting the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. If Jokic can continue playing at an MVP level, Denver will be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA Playoffs.
