The LA Clippers opened their season with a 121-96 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday at Intuit Dome, and the final Clippers vs Kings score reflected a lopsided night from the opening tip. Darius Garland scored 30 points in his Clippers debut performance, and LA led by as many as 28 points.

Garland shot 11 for 19 from the field and hit three 3-pointers while adding four assists. Zach LaVine led Sacramento with 28 points, but the Kings never led and fell to 0-1 with the loss.

Key Moments That Decided The Clippers Vs Kings Score

LA set the tone in the first quarter, outscoring Sacramento 41-29 and never trailing at any point in the game. The Clippers hit multiple three-pointers early, with Garland connecting from 29 feet and 25 feet while knocking down a pair of pullup jumpers.

The Clippers pushed the margin further in the second quarter, building their largest lead of the game at 28 points. LA extended control in the third quarter, outscoring Sacramento 32-16 before Sacramento closed the fourth quarter 26-28.

LA controlled the paint and the glass throughout, finishing with 56 points in the paint compared to 48 for Sacramento and out-rebounding the Kings 49-42. The Clippers also forced 17 Sacramento turnovers while committing the same number themselves, but converted those extra Kings miscues into 27 fast-break points against the Kings’ 18.

Top Performers

Garland led LA with four assists in 32 minutes. Rui Hachimura contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, while Kris Dunn ran the offense with seven assists and added seven points with three steals. Brook Lopez grabbed 11 rebounds to lead all players on the glass. Derrick Jones Jr. finished plus-18 in the plus-minus column, the best mark on either roster, while scoring eight points with five assists.

For Sacramento, Domantas Sabonis posted a near triple-double with 14 points, 18 rebounds and eight assists despite finishing minus-9. LaVine led all Kings scorers with 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting, and Precious Achiuwa added 15 points off the bench. Darius Acuff Jr. scored 12 points but shot just 5 for 24 from the field.

What The Final Stat Sheet Shows

LA shot 52% from the field compared to Sacramento’s 42%, and the Clippers connected on 40% of their three-point attempts (14 for 35) against the Kings’ 29% mark (8 for 28). LA also out-assisted Sacramento 29-22, a sign of the ball movement that produced open looks throughout the night. The Clippers held a 14-10 edge in steals and blocked five shots to Sacramento’s zero.

Free throws told part of the story as well. LA went 21 for 31 from the line while Sacramento shot 16 for 28, giving the Clippers a scoring cushion beyond their field-goal advantage.

What It Means And What’s Next

The win moved the Clippers to 1-0 and briefly tied them atop the Pacific Division standings alongside the Lakers, both sitting at 1.000 with zero losses. Sacramento dropped to 0-1, joining Golden State and Phoenix at the bottom of the early division table with one loss apiece.

LA leads the season series with Sacramento 1-0. Both teams now turn to their next games on the schedule as the young season continues, with the Kings looking to bounce back after a difficult offensive night in which they shot below 30% from three-point range.
