Chicago Cubs Right Fielder Kyle Tucker’s first 18 games with the team have been a dream. He has 23 hits, 19 runs, 18 RBI, and 15 walks through his first 18 games with the ballclub. He is the first player in league history to put up these statistics in 18 games with a team.
Tucker was acquired by the Chicago Cubs this offseason after spending the first 7 seasons of his career with the Houston Astros. Tucker is hitting .324 this season with 5 home runs and 18 RBI. He is 18th in the league in batting average, seventh in home runs, third in RBI, and seventh in OPS. Will Tucker be able to keep up his high level of play?
Chicago Cubs Season Summary
Chicago’s offense, led by Tucker, has been one of the league’s best units. They are sixth in batting average, fourth in home runs, and leading Major League Baseball in runs scored by a wide margin. Chicago’s offense helped the team take two of three games on the road over the weekend against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chicago is leading the National League Central with an 11-7 record.
The team’s pitching staff has been the weak point for the team in 2025. They are 18th in ERA, 24th in opposing batting average, and 21st in WHIP. Chicago’s pitching staff has been bitten by the injury bug this year. It was announced over the weekend Justin Steele suffered a season-ending elbow injury. Starting Pitcher Javier Assad has yet to make his season debut with the Chicago Cubs.
Final Thoughts
Chicago returns to the diamond on the road tonight against the San Diego Padres. The Padres have gotten off to a historic start this year. Chicago’s great offense will go up against a Padres pitching staff that has gotten out of the gates better than almost any other squad in league history.
