Chicago Cubs Center Fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is in the midst of a 13-game stretch for the ages. He is the first player over the last 125 seasons of Cubs history with 13+ extra-base hits and 5+ stolen bases in a 13-game span.
Crow-Armstrong’s great stretch began April 12 on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. A double last night against the Philadelphia Phillies put Crow-Armstrong in rarefied air. He is hitting .286 this season with 5 home runs and 19 RBI. Will he maintain his high level of play for the Chicago Cubs?

The Cubs have been great to begin the regular season. They are 17-12 and leading the National League Central. Chicago’s offense has been its strength this year. They are third in batting average, sixth in home runs, and leading the league in runs scored by a wide margin. Right Fielder Kyle Tucker has gotten off to a stellar start. He is fourth in the league in RBI and seventh in OPS.
Chicago’s pitching staff has been the weaker part of the team. They are 20th in ERA, 21st in opposing batting average, and 23rd in WHIP. If the Cubs can continue producing on offense, while improving on the mound, they will be a force to be reckoned with in the National League.
Final Thoughts
Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs return to the diamond Tuesday to begin a three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Crow-Armstrong will look to keep up his high level of play for a Cubs team on the rise.
