The Washington Capitals beat Flyers 5-2 on Wednesday at Capital One Arena, getting two goals apiece from Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch while Dylan Strome piled up three assists. The win moved Washington to 7-4-0 on the season, while Philadelphia fell to 3-8-4.

Washington scored the only goal of the first period and then broke the game open with two tallies in the second and two more in the third. Sean Couturier had Philadelphia’s lone goal in regulation until Matvei Michkov cut the deficit to one in the third period, but the Capitals answered twice more to put it away. Couturier finished with Philadelphia’s only point of the night with a goal, while Nick Seeler had the Flyers’ only assist.

Key Moments That Decided It

Tuch opened the scoring 1:50 into the game on a snap shot, assisted by Strome and Jack St. Ivany, and the Capitals never trailed. Couturier tied it at 4:36 of the second period with a tip-in off a Seeler feed, but Kyrou restored Washington’s lead just over two minutes later with a snap shot set up by Strome and Jakob Chychrun. Aliaksei Protas made it 3-1 with a tip-in late in the second period, assisted by Matt Roy and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Michkov’s wrist shot at 9:44 of the third period, assisted by Denver Barkey and Trevor Zegras, pulled the Flyers within one goal. Kyrou answered three minutes later with his second of the night, assisted again by Strome, and Tuch closed the scoring with 2:24 left in regulation to complete his two-goal night.

Player Of The Game: Dylan Strome

Strome did not score, but he set up three of Washington’s five goals. His three assists led all skaters in points.
