Canadiens beat Red Wings 1-0 on Bolduc’s shootout goal

Zachary Bolduc's shootout goal lifted Montreal past Detroit 1-0 at Bell Centre. Jacob Fowler and Daniil Tarasov each recorded a shutout through overtime.

Zachary Bolduc scored the shootout winner as Montreal beat Detroit 1-0 in a scoreless battle at Bell Centre on Saturday. Jacob Fowler and Daniil Tarasov each stopped all 30 shots in regulation and overtime, forcing the shootout after neither team scored through 65 minutes.

Bolduc beat Tarasov with a snap shot in the shootout, and Fowler turned away every Detroit attempt. Neither power-play unit converted on four chances: Montreal went 0 for 4 while Detroit also finished 0 for 4.

How It Played Out

Fowler and Tarasov matched each other through regulation and overtime. Fowler stopped all 30 shots he faced, including 10 on the penalty kill. Tarasov made 30 saves of his own, five of them against Montreal’s power play. Montreal won 34 of 60 faceoffs for a 56.7% advantage and limited giveaways to 13 compared to Detroit’s 18.
