The Brooklyn Nets are looking to continue building towards being a contender and improved their backcourt by selecting Nolan Traore with the 19th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The team used the first two of their five first-round picks tonight thus far and this is the third French player to get selected. Let’s take a deeper dive into what this pick means for the Brooklyn Nets going forward.

Nolan Traore has played 30 games for Saint-Quentin in the French first division this season and in 22.6 minutes, he averaged 11.6 points, 5.1 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. His shooting leaves a bit to be desired, but he has a solid mix of passing and burst on the court. With the Brooklyn Nets already drafting Egor Demin with the eighth pick, the backcourt is in a position to improve and grow as a young core.

This could be the reset that the Nets wanted to get and now with potentially a new starting backcourt, this could be intriguing to say the least. Traore was mocked as a potential lottery pick so the team got some value with this selection.

Final Thoughts

This leaves the Nets with a pair of young guards and puts some eyes on what the franchise decides to do with shooting guard Cam Thomas, who is a restricted free agent this offseason. The Nets could simply re-sign him and have him be the leader and move Demin to the small forward, but it is interesting with three more picks in the first round for the team to see what the brain trust decides to do. Brooklyn seemingly likes the experience of playing overseas and getting a guard with shooting issues could be intriguing for the team.
