Brad Marchand Injury: Six Weeks For Recovery: Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand will miss approximately six weeks after a left-leg injury suffered Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings. Coach Paul Maurice told reporters Friday the forward is expected to be off the ice for three weeks, then rehab for another three. Marchand, 38, was high-sticked by Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke with 53 seconds remaining in the second period during Florida’s 2-1 win at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Oct. 8.

He twisted awkwardly into the goal post, and his left leg bent back awkwardly. Clarke was assessed a double minor penalty on the play.

Brad Marchand Injury: Six Weeks For Recovery

Panthers coach Paul Maurice laid out the timeline Friday after practice. Maurice said Marchand will be off the ice for three weeks before resuming skating, then spend another three weeks in rehabilitation. Marchand was helped off the ice by Brady Tkachuk and Niko Mikkola and was attended to by a trainer.

Maurice noted the scary nature of the moment. “When they go down and you see that, you’re worried. We went through that last year,” he said, referencing Florida’s injury-plagued 2024-25 season that cost them a playoff spot.

Panthers Lineup Already Thin Up Front

Marchand’s absence adds to a growing list of ailments for Florida. Captain Aleksander Barkov is also out 6-8 weeks with a lower-body injury, after the Panthers placed him on LTIR following his season debut. Forward Jonah Gadjovich is out with an upper-body injury, and defenseman Aaron Ekblad is day-to-day for a personal issue.

Matthew Tkachuk reacted to the news of his teammate’s injury. “Yeah, brutal. Haven’t seen him yet, but obviously want to check in on him.

And yeah, just stinks. Unfortunate,” Tkachuk said.

Maurice pointed to the team’s experience weathering injuries, including Barkov’s, known inside the organization as Sasha. “I mean, we have a little experience with Sasha going down, so it wasn’t quite as shocking the second time it happened. We know we have good depth, and there’s a threshold for any team, a number of injuries you just can’t survive, and we passed that early last year.

So, real good resolve here. The tank is deep right now. We had a big summer off, so we’re strong,” Maurice said.

Marchand’s Role This Season

Marchand was playing just his second game for Florida this season when he got hurt. He missed the first two games of the year while recovering from offseason surgery for an unspecified injury before making his season debut on Oct. 4, 2026. In that game, he scored the tying goal with 1:50 left in regulation, though the Panthers went on to lose 3-2 in overtime to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Panthers have won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025 but missed the playoffs last season after a string of injuries piled up, a pattern now repeating early in the current campaign.

What’s Next For Florida

The Panthers play the Minnesota Wild on Friday night at home. Marchand is expected to return around late November 2026 if his recovery stays on schedule, though no specific date has been announced.
