WWE Evolution started off hot as Becky Lynch defended her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship in a triple-threat match against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. The match was an exciting way to start the show and put a lot of people on edge for what to expect going forward. Let’s take a deeper dive into what Becky Lynch retaining her championship means going forward.

This match really showed all three women are ready to put their working boots on and put a massive spotlight in a weekend full of fantastic wrestling. Becky Lynch was able to “steal” the victory as Bayley hit the Rose Plant on Lyra Valkyria and Lynch immediately ran in and rolled up Bayley for the pinfall victory. There were a lot of near-falls that felt realistic, but breaking up pins and kicking out at 2.9 made them believable. This continues to allow Lynch to continue elevating the midcard women’s championship after winning the title back at Money In The Bank.

This continues to allow the middle of the RAW women’s division to get to step up as a potential rematch can happen for either contender or we can see a woman like Stephanie Vaquer or elevating a woman like Natalya. In terms of Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, they can continue to find themselves in a spot where they can chase the championship and try to get a one-on-one match against the champion.

This match certainly showcased how the RAW women’s division has talent and can be in a spot where they can continue to weave some stories going forward with Lynch as the champion.
