Baltimore Orioles-Ramon Laureano Agree To 1-Year Deal

Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles and Right Fielder Ramon Laureano agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday. The deal includes a team option in 2026 for $6.5 million. Laureano is coming off a solid 2024 where he split time with the Cleveland Guardians and Atlanta Braves. He was designated for assignment by the Guardians before signing a minor league contract with the Braves in May. He finished the regular season hitting .259 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI.

Baltimore will be Laureano’s fourth MLB team. He spent parts of his first six career seasons with the Oakland Athletics before spending a year a half in Cleveland then making his way over to the Atlanta Braves. How will this deal work out for both sides?

Baltimore Orioles Season Summary

Baltimore is looking to build upon a strong 2024 season. They notched the American League’s first wild card spot with a 91-71 record. Their postseason came to an abrupt end after losing back-to-back home games against the Kansas City Royals. Baltimore’s offense was miserable against Kansas City scoring a measly one run. Laureano will hope to rectify that.

Laureano joins a crowded Orioles outfield which includes Cedric Mullins, Tyler O’Neill, and Colton Cowser. The Baltimore Orioles did a nice job revamping that part of their ballclub following the departure of slugger Anthony Santander. He signed a lucrative contract with the Toronto Blue Jays a few weeks ago. It is unclear how Laureano will fit into a crowded outfield in the “Charm City.”

Final Thoughts

Baltimore enters 2025 with lofty expectations and an O/U of 88.5 wins. That places them firmly in the AL wild card picture once again. Laureano will look to provide a veteran presence, and solid production, to a Baltimore Orioles team which is on the rise.
