Auburn beat No. 1 Georgia 27-24 on Alex McPherson’s 34-yard field goal as time expired Saturday at Sanford Stadium, snapping the Bulldogs’ first loss of the season and their 54-game winning streak against unranked opponents. The Tigers trailed 14-0 early but scored 24 unanswered points to take a 24-14 lead into the fourth quarter.

Georgia’s three turnovers and a critical personal foul in the closing seconds set up the winning drive. Gunner Stockton fumbled near midfield with 58 seconds left with Auburn holding all three timeouts, and the Tigers drove into field goal range for McPherson’s walk-off kick.

Key Moments

Georgia struck first with a 15-yard rushing touchdown from Dwight Phillips Jr. and a 24-yard pass to Lawson Luckie, building a 14-0 lead. Auburn scored the next 24 points over the first three quarters, taking a 24-14 advantage into the final quarter on Byrum Brown’s 5-yard rushing touchdown.

Georgia pulled within three on Peyton Woodring’s 42-yard field goal and tied it 24-24 with a 4-yard pass from Gunner Stockton to London Humphreys with 2:58 left. On third-and-11 at its own 29 with 1:16 to play, Auburn’s bad snap forced a quick punt, but Stockton fumbled near midfield with 58 seconds remaining. McPherson’s 34-yard field goal with no time left won it, according to FOX Sports.
