The Indiana Pacers ruled out guard Andrew Nembhard for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks with a cervical strain, according to CBS Sports. Nembhard is sidelined for the second leg of a back-to-back set, leaving Indiana thin in the backcourt as it deals with a growing list of absences.
Nembhard led the Pacers with 23 points in a 98-90 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, per ESPN. He will not play less than 24 hours later as Indiana faces Atlanta.
Nembhard’s Designation And What Caused It
The Pacers listed Nembhard as out with a cervical strain. No return timeline has been announced.
Backcourt Options With Nembhard Sidelined
Guard Quenton Jackson is in line for extended playing time with Nembhard out, according to CBS Sports.
Forward Obi Toppin will sit out for a second straight game with a lower back injury, and center Ivica Zubac is out with a left ankle sprain. Guard Tyrese Haliburton remains sidelined with a hamstring strain and is expected to miss at least another 10 days, per ESPN.
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said Toppin has been progressing and could return Monday, per ESPN, though the team has not confirmed his status beyond that.
Nembhard’s Role This Season
Nembhard scored 23 points in Sunday’s loss to Brooklyn. His absence against Atlanta removes a consistent scorer available to Indiana while Haliburton remains out.
What’s Next For Indiana
The Pacers face the Hawks on Monday without Nembhard, Zubac and Haliburton, with Toppin’s availability still uncertain pending Carlisle’s final word.
