The Alabama Crimson Tide have named their new offense coordinator. They have turned to Ryan Grubb to lead the team’s offense in 2025. Grubb has a successful coaching relationship with Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Kalen DeBoer. Grubb and DeBoer worked together when DeBoer was the head coach of the Washington Huskies and with Fresno State.
Grubb was the offensive coordinator of the high-powered Huskies offense in 2023. They advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game where they lost to the Michigan Wolverines. Grubb’s Washington offense was one of the nation’s best in 2023. They averaged over 460 yards per game and 36 points per game. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was a Heisman Trophy finalist. He led the nation in passing yards and finished third in passing touchdowns.
After an ill-fated OC stint with the Seattle Seahawks this season, Grubb is back in the college ranks with DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Will he get the perennial championships back on track next season?

Alabama is coming off a disappointing season. Even though they finished 9-4, it was their fewest wins since 2007. DeBoer was dealt a tough hand taking over for arguably the best college football coach of all time: Nick Saban. DeBoer entered Tuscaloosa with championship aspirations but fell woefully short this year. After a 9-3 regular season, there was some discussion surrounding the Alabama Crimson Tide sneaking into the College Football Playoff. Ultimately, they were left out.
Alabama needs a better season in 2025 or the seat underneath DeBoer will get even hotter. Alabama fans expect greatness from their team, and it is up to Grubb and DeBoer to produce that. Quarterback Jalen Milroe will be departing for the NFL Draft as the team will need to replace him under center. Grubb and DeBoer are two of the nation’s best offensive minds and should be able to find a suitable replacement.
Final Thoughts
DeBoer must avoid the pitfalls that plagued him in his first season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Crimson Tide lost to a subpar Vanderbilt team and scored a measly three points to an Oklahoma Sooners team having a down year. Their season ended with a whimper losing 19-13 to the Michigan Wolverines in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
With Grubb reuniting with DeBoer, brighter days are seemingly ahead for the Crimson Tide. That duo has a history of success they hope to reproduce down in Alabama.
