The Washington Commanders acquired Offensive Tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans on Monday afternoon. Houston received a 2025 third-round pick, a 2025 seventh-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick. The Texans sent a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Commanders to complete the deal.
Tunsil has been one of the best offensive linemen in the game since he was drafted 13th overall by the Miami Dolphins in the 2016 NFL Draft. He is a five-time Pro Bowler. According to PFF, he was the fourth-best pass blocker in 2024. Will Tunsil be able to produce at a similar level for the Washington Commanders?Â
Washington Commanders Offseason Outlook
The Commanders are looking to build upon a shocking run to the NFC Championship Game. A big reason for their improbable run was the play of rookie Quarterback Jayden Daniels. Tunsil joins a Washington Commanders offensive line that was ranked No. 7 in the league according to Pro Football Network.
Much to Washington’s credit, they have not rested on their laurels early in the offseason. They acquired former All-Pro Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers a few weeks ago.
Final Thoughts
Washington gave up a bevy of draft picks to acquire Tunsil. He will help solidify the team’s offensive line and protect Daniels for years to come. Washington’s offseason moves have signified the team is willing to push all its chips into the middle of the table to compete for a Super Bowl in the next few seasons.
