New York Giants-Tight End Chris Manhertz Agree To 1-Year Deal

New York Giants

The New York Giants and veteran Tight End Chris Manhertz agreed to terms on a one-year deal Saturday night. The exact terms of the contract were not available at the time of publication. Manhertz did not make much of an impact for the New York Giants in 2024. He had 3 receptions for 30 yards and a receiving touchdown. Even though the tight end is not expected to contribute much on the field, he will give New York a veteran presence as they look to rebound from a rough last two seasons. How will this contract work out for both sides?

New York Giants Offseason Outlook

New York has a pressure-filled offseason coming up. Co-owner John Mara made it clear following another disappointing regular season, Head Coach Brian Daboll and General Manager Joe Schoen are on thin ice in 2025. The first order of the business for the New York Giants is to find a long-term answer at the quarterback position this spring.

Schoen and Daboll gave Daniel Jones a contract extension. It worked out miserably. New York has the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. There has been some discussion about the team trading up with the Tennessee Titans to take over the No. 1 overall pick. New York can still draft a quarterback with their pick and let them sit behind a veteran like Aaron Rodgers or Sam Darnold. With New York’s poor quarterback play in recent years, all options are on the table.

Final Thoughts

Manhertz returning to the Giants is a savvy move. He will help tutor some of the young players like Wide Receiver Malik Nabers and possibly New York’s rookie quarterback. If the 2025 season does not get off to a good start, Daboll and Schoen will be handed their walking papers in short order.
